The Thurston Economic Development Council is pleased to announce that Sealy® is locating a new facility in Lacey, WA. The mattress manufacturing plant, which is expected to be operational by April, 2013, will provide approximately 110 good-paying jobs to the local community.
The Thurston EDC, the Washington State Department of Commerce, and Sealy’s development advisors have worked collaboratively over the past several months to help find the right location necessary for the company to operate successfully for years to come.
“The Thurston Economic Development Council (EDC) is excited that Sealy has made the decision to locate their facility in our community. As part of the site selection process, the EDC provided location analysis to ensure that Sealy could understand and take full advantage of this prime location,” said Michael Cade, Executive Director of Thurston EDC. “We are committed to working with the company throughout their start-up process to ensure they have access to the resources they need to be successful.”
For its part, the City of Lacey is pleased to have been chosen by Sealy as the site of their new plant. Lacey Mayor Virgil Clarkson says, “The City of Lacey is proud to welcome the Sealy manufacturing facility to our community. The jobs that the Sealy facility will bring to our city support our goal of promoting family wage jobs and opportunity in Lacey as well as throughout the region. We look forward to this new partnership.”
Because of the ambitious time schedule, hiring for the new positions at the facility will begin within the next few weeks. Several local organizations, including Pacific Mountain Workforce Development Council, WorkSource Thurston County, SBCTCC, Thurston County Chamber of Commerce, and the Department of Commerce, are collaborating to create a positive environment that promotes job creation and job opportunities for residents of Thurston County and surrounding areas.
“We are pleased to welcome Sealy’s new manufacturing facility to the state of Washington. The newly created jobs will bolster the local economy in Lacey, said Leigh Felton, Assistant Director of the Business Services Division at Washington State Department of Commerce. “Sealy is a world class company and we are pleased to have them join the family of companies who find Washington a great place to do business.”
Sealy, which is siting its operations in the former Spring Air factory on Willamette Drive in Lacey, will manufacture top-end mattress products for distribution throughout the United States.
