After falling behind 21-10 in the 1A state championship game at the Tacoma Dome, the Montesano Bulldogs would outscore the Knights 33 to 7 to win the crown in front of a large contingency from the Grays Harbor area.

The Bulldogs were paced by two rushing touchdowns apiece for backs Elliot Mendenhall and Tucker Ibabao, while quarterback Matthew Jensen threw for two touchdowns, one to Ben Ohashi and another to Richard Smith.  The Jensen to Smith touchdown was a 42 yard “Hail Mary” at the end of the first half, and would give the Bulldogs the necessary momentum to acquire the state crown.  As a team, the Bulldogs out-gained the Knights 547-to-401.
