Submitted by the Law Offices of Harold D. Carr
The Law Offices of Harold D. Carr moved into their new office building last summer near the intersection of Martin Way and Sleater-Kinney Road. In the last year they have erected their new signs and settled into their new home, but there was still one thing missing. At 1:00pm on Monday, August 5, the firm raised the American flag for the first time at the location.
The entire staff stepped away from their offices and walked outside for the ceremony. Harold Carr, Sr., a retired Command Sergeant Major of the United States Army, began the ceremony by attaching the flag to the pole. He then made presentation by salute as his son, attorney Harold Carr raised the flag for the first time. Once raised, all who were present said the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag, which was followed by a short prayer.
The flag flies gloriously atop the thirty-foot pole near the main entrance to the law firm. “I have raised the flag at the last three offices,” said Sergeant Major Carr who was still in his army dress blues after the ceremony.
Flying the American flag is not uncommon in the state capitol, especially being so close to JBLM. It is even more fitting that a local law firm, which is charged with upholding American Law in the courtrooms shows such patriotism at its offices. The firm states that they have raised the flag to “honor those who have fought and died for our country and our freedom. We are forever thankful.”
If you would like to see the Flag Raising Ceremony, you may find it on YouTube here or by searching “Carr Law Flag Raising.” If you would like to see the flag in person, it is well lit and as such will be flown day and night.
