The Dispute Resolution Center of Thurston County (DRC) has expanded resources to help residents of Thurston and south Mason counties address and resolve housing-related conflicts. Many of these services are now available at no cost, thanks to contracts with the Cities of Olympia, Lacey and Tumwater, and Mason County.

Serving Thurston and south Mason Counties since 1991, the DRC has a long history of providing voluntary mediation and conciliation services to resolve landlord-tenant and other housing-related issues outside of the court system.

Landlords, tenants, HOA’s, roommates, and neighbors may use the DRC’s services to resolve disputes and improve communication, or specifically to:

  • Address overdue rent
  • Discuss dues increases or imposition of special assessments
  • Successfully negotiate payment or repayment plans
  • Discuss deposits and move out timelines
  • Address lease agreements
  • Develop agreements for shared housing/cohabitating
  • Resolve neighborhood issues

The services available at no cost vary, depending on location. The DRC’s fees are based on a sliding scale to ensure that cost is not a barrier to anyone who is seeking or would benefit from its services.
