At this point in the year, the weather has most of us in a funk. We are ready for sunshine and flowers again. Add to the current economic and social climate and many of us are just feeling down. Hosted by the Procession of the Species creators, Earthbound Productions, the Global Studio Dance Party is the positive pick-me-up we all need. Happening March 29, 2025, at the Olympia Armory Creative Campus, all ages are welcome and tickets are just $10.

“We are in a bit of a sludge as a society and this in-turn has suppressed some of the positive vibrancy we have always held within our own local communities,” shares Eli Sterling of Earthbound Productions. “There is work to be done along several fronts in this regard, for sure! But the Procession has always been about putting a solid step forward that reminds us all of what we are capable of as a community.”

Find Rock-n-Roll, Art and Good Company at Global Dance Party in Olympia

This new event, brought to us by the wonderful people who give us our beloved Procession of the Species and Luminary Procession each April, hopes to remind people of the creative and positive spaces in Olympia, where friends can meet, laugh and share in art.

“Community art studios and creative cultural spaces are critical to the health and well-being of societies around the world,” shares Eli. “They are essential to keeping both individual and diverse collectives of cultural identity uplifted and present in the dialogue fore fronting essential amenities of life. This is not a trivial understanding and it cannot be overstated.”

The Global Studio Dance Party is giving us all the chance to do just that. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., with live music start at 8 p.m. Pumphouse will have you out on the dance floor in no time with their rock-n-roll tunes. There will also be performances by Amira Belly Dance Troupe and others!

And if you are a Procession of the Species fanatic – and what Thurston County resident isn’t? – this even is giving you an amazing opportunity to take a tour of the Procession of the Species Studio located below the Dance Party space at the Armory. “Imagine it like a museum tour,” shares Eli. “You will see all the Procession iconic creatures over the past 30 years. Meet with some of the creators. But unlike a museum tour, you will be welcomed to create your own expression of awe and appreciation for the natural world, join in the Procession, and make your own living history!”

Thurston County: Art is Community

Art truly weaves through the Thurston County community – connecting us like nothing else. We take pride in beautifying our area and celebrating different cultures and heritages through artwork. Earthbound Products hopes this event will be the first of many at the Armory Creative Campus once it’s completely renovated. The goal of the Olympia Armory Creative Campus is to create a space that encourages more creating, more sharing and more positivity.

“We have once again staged an amazing art studio, filling the entire armory basement and annex warehouse with art, supplies, tools and workspaces – twice as much space as last year!” shares Eli. “And yes, certainly, we want people to come and witness the potential of such a creative space. But more than just see it, we want friends to meet friends within it. Thus weaving a continued presence of all cultural and creative spaces into the fabric of our South Sound communities.”

March 29 gives you the perfect opportunity to get a sneak peak of the new Olympia Armory Creative Campus and be a part of the Procession of the Species all while taking an evening to relax, have fun and celebrate coming together as one Earth.

“Earthbound Productions, by its very name and mission – ‘To elevate the dignity of the human spirit by enhancing the cultural relationship between communities and the natural world,’ – has always taken head-on the ethical directive to, ‘Think globally and act locally.’” Shares Eli. “Global Studio Dance Party is a tribute to that very notion and that every creative space in Thurston County is a contributor to the global fabric of our planet’s identity.”

Join in the creative on March 29, 2025. It’s a fun night that will lift your spirit and bring back that creativity you may have lost. Purchase your tickets online. All ages are welcome, children must be accompanied by an adult. Proceeds will go towards having fire spinners at the closing ceremony of the 2025 Luminary Procession on April 25, at Sylvester Park.
