South Sound Block Party is back, once again bringing together iconic headliners, rising stars, and Olympia’s unshakable DIY spirit. Set against the stunning backdrop of Puget Sound, the mid-size festival just unveiled a lineup that again champions riot grrrl icons, emerging talent, and the fiercely independent energy that cemented Olympia’s place in music history.

2025 Lineup

Headlining the festival are punk pioneers L7 and Olympia’s own Bratmobile, whose first hometown show since the ’90s is one of the most anticipated reunions in underground music. They’re joined by Seattle rock powerhouse Thunderpussy, queercore legends Team Dresch, and a curated mix of emerging and established artists across genres.

Olympia standouts Temper, dannirose, and Coaster share the stage with reggae stars Mike Love and Mihali, Spokane’s The Bed Heads, and Seattle’s Kate Dinsmore. The lineup also features folk newcomers Carlile Family Band, breakout country act Luke Borchelt, PNW indie-rock supergroup Sun Atoms, and working-class Olympia punks Souls Worn Thin.

More Than Just Another Festival

South Sound Block Party isn’t just a festival—it’s Olympia’s musical legacy in real time. From riot grrrl pioneers to next-gen punks, the lineup proves Olympia’s DIY spirit hasn’t faded—and it’s evolving.

Bratmobile’s recent reunion has ignited national buzz, selling out shows across the country. Their South Sound Block Party set isn’t just a performance—it’s a homecoming.

Meanwhile, legendary L.A. punks L7—who recently launched their own all-female festival—will tear through Olympia for the first time since their appearance at the city’s famed International Pop Underground Conference. It can’t be a coincidence. South Sound Block Party has built a reputation for having a deep reverence for the PNW musical cannon and bringing world-class talent to a city that, until recently, wasn’t on most national tour routings.

In just a few years, word-of-mouth buzz has turned SSBP into one of the fastest-growing music events in the region. The draw? A stunning waterfront backdrop, affordable weekend passes, and a lineup curated with the kind of care and soul that bigger festivals lost along the way. For artists, it’s more than just another tour stop—it’s a gathering, a celebration, and a rare chance to plug into Olympia’s unmatched creative energy

At first glance, the lineup looks almost chaotic—band names are scattered like driftwood in the waves on the festival poster – wrapped amongst the tentacles of a kraken. But beneath the surface lies a meticulously curated selection of artists spanning genres and generations. South Sound Block Party thrives on this balance—pairing national acts with local staples and fresh discoveries to create something dynamic, fresh, and deeply connected to Olympia’s music scene.

Olympia’s Musical Legacy Lives On

Olympia has always punched above its weight in music—launching Bratmobile, Sleater-Kinney, Gossip, The Microphones, and last year’s headliners Bikini Kill into the cultural canon. That same spirit of fearless originality fuels South Sound Block Party, not just as a celebration of that legacy, but as a proving ground for the next generation to make their mark

“We’ve always wanted this festival to feel personal—something that belongs to Olympia as much as it does to the fans and artists who travel to come to the show,” say the organizers. “We love showing off the city to out-of-towners and proving to nationally touring acts that Olympia’s live music scene is alive and thriving.”

That balance is what sets SSBP apart. While many festivals chase trends, this one builds something lasting: a platform for artists, a destination for music lovers, and a defining moment for a city that continues to shape culture far beyond its size.

South Sound Block Party isn’t just another festival—it’s an experience you won’t find anywhere else. Every set, every bite, every moment is part of Olympia’s musical story. Whether you’ve been part of Olympia’s music scene for years or are just finding your way here, South Sound Block Party is where it all converges—unfiltered, undeniable, and unapologetically Olympia.
