Alauna Carstens (Jr.) and Rowan Hicks (So.) from The Evergreen State College each set a personal record during the Oregon Open on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus. Carstens competed in the women’s 5,000-meter run and Hicks participated in the men’s 1,500-meter run.
Carstens registered a time of 16:55.87 in the 5,000 while placing seventh in the race. She lowered her NAIA “A” qualifying time by 2.4 seconds from her previous best of 16:58.27, set at the Oregon Preview on March 21.
Anika Thompson, competing unattached, won the women’s 5,000 in 15:58.59. Morgan Jensen from the University of Utah took second place in 16:04.23. Annastasia Peters, also from the University of Utah, was third at 16:06.83.
Hicks was timed at 4:09.07 in the 1,500. He lowered his personal record from 4:09.86, which he earned at the Puget Sound Invitational on April 12.
The Evergreen track and field teams are set to compete at the Nancy and Norm Berney Classic on Saturday, April 26. The meet will be hosted by Corban University in Salem, Oregon.
