Summer camps are a great way to keep kids active and engaged during the long, sunny, school-less days. But some camps go above and beyond by teaching new skills and preparing youth for bigger and better things. With FC Olympia, Artesian Soccer summer camp registration is open now. Bring your budding ballers to the field and watch them grow all season long.

FC Olympia is a community-driven Washington State club that provides path to pro soccer including outreach clinics and camps. Their teams compete with some of the best and their coaching staff and organizers are experienced players, leaders and mentors.

Like FC Olympia’s Friday night clinics, camps are taught by coaches and staff who love the game and are passionate about helping others. Camp Advisor and Clinic Director Miguel Gonzalez says these classes, “are catered to the development of players in a fun competitive way, with a focus on supplemental training outside their club team environment. In some cases, they serve as a teaching tool for the fundamentals of soccer. A lot of the focus is on players individual work so the players can work at their own pace but with guidance to improve no matter what your skill level is.”

FC Olympia President Ryan Perkins says they’re hoping to double last summer’s programming. He says their summer day camps, USL youth focus clinics, USL youth goalkeeper development camps, USL youth spring break camps and other opportunities are intended to connect local kids to coaches who’ve made it in every sense of the word through playing in college and beyond.

But the best, most honest recommendations come from families who’ve attended these camps for many years. Bryan Brandenburg’s 11-year-old daughter, Pearl, has enjoyed the camps and clinics for a long time. Pearl plays soccer in local rec leagues and was looking for a way to supplement their practice sessions in a more challenging environment.

Brandenburg explains that over the years they tried it all. “Our searches took us to combined Capital and Olympia High School women’s training sessions, Nido Aguila women’s team training sessions with Adriana Montes Cervantes, Friday Night Lights training sessions with Blackhills Football Club and their many stellar coaches, Tacoma Soccer Center training sessions with Alex Megson of the Tacoma Stars, Redline Athletics training sessions in Gig Harbor with Scean Pickering of Promovere Training, Seattle Reign Academy training sessions at Sea-Tac, Bellevue College, Starfire and Longacres locations with their excellent club program, and even private training sessions at Sehmel-Homestead Park in Gig Harbor with a former National Women’s Soccer League professional player,” he says. “What Ryan Perkins, Miguel Gonzalez and their staff of USL athletes, arena players and coaches are doing is amazing and right in our backyard.”

Finding FC Olympia saves time and gas money, and he says Pearl has bonded with several coaches and leaders. “FC Olympia has truly created a grassroots youth soccer outreach program that is extremely challenging, emotionally safe and ever inclusive,” he adds, “and I feel as if Pearl has grown up as a football player, and as a maturing, respectful and confident person right along within it.”

Talent, Dedication and Top-Tier Coaches Make for an Amazing Summer Camp Experience

Successful learning is skillfully taught, expertly demonstrated and contains a hands-on element—or feet on, when it comes to soccer—that’s second to none. Brandenburg and Pearl find FC Olympia to be “a game-changer and including their stable of athletes and arena players as coaches is truly unique to the area.”

Brandenburg appreciates that training session tutorials are not just spoken or directed. They’re physically demonstrated, tactically broken down, technically illustrated with hands-on placement and come with plenty of encouraging positive reinforcement. “Pearl and I can’t honestly speak highly enough of the ever-evolving youth program that FC Olympia offers,” he shares. “We sign up for every opportunity that Pearl is able to make as a player and that we have the ability to support as a family.”

Beyond that, Pearl has made lifelong friends and mentors all while developing skills on the pitch. They both share in the excitement for such a popular, growing sport and believe FC Olympia training is community-building at its best.

To keep up with their many offerings, sign up for FC Olympia’s newsletter or follow them on Facebook, Instagram, X and YouTube. Then get your kiddos registered today, while space is available, and come ready to cheer when they take the field.
